Your Fort McMurray Canada Post team continues its efforts to reinstate postal services to all residents of our community with the opening a new postal facility. This facility will allow us to better process the mail and make items available for pick-up. The address and business hours of the new location will be provided on Tuesday (May 19) morning.
The following customers, whose postal service has been affected by the flooding, are to pick up their mail at the new location, unless they registered for the Mail Forwarding Service:
- Customers whose mail delivery to their business, apartment or community mailbox has been temporarily suspended.
- Customers who had a postal box at the main post office located at 101-19 Riedel Street.
- Customers who had a postal box at the River City Shoppers Drug Mart postal outlet.
- Customers who had a postal box at the Clearwater Sobeys postal outlet.
Staggered mail retrieval process
To serve you in an orderly and safe manner, we are introducing a staggered mail retrieval process, and we will have clearly identified physical distancing measures in place. We believe these measures will help reduce line-ups and wait times.
Customers are directed to collect their mail on specific days of the week based on their last name:
- Last name starts with A to F – Monday and Wednesday
- Last name starts with G to M – Tuesday and Friday
- Last name starts with N to Z – Thursday and Saturday
Please check the May 14 update for information on our Mail Forwarding Service, available free of charge until May 31.
We will update the Closures and service interruptions web page as more information becomes available. If you have questions regarding your mail, please contact us.
As we continue to provide mail service, we thank you for your understanding and patience during this difficult time.
